The Plimsoll Building P1

On entrance to The Plimsoll building you are met with a grand American black walnut clad curved stair case. The steel staircase was manufactured off site and installed at P1 by Houston Cox.

Following the installation, Houston Cox had to ensure the steel was clad in American black walnut panels that aligned with the matching wall panelling. The internal handrail was incorporated within the panelling and concealed an LED strip.

The staircase was surveyed using state of the art 3D technology to ensure each panel had the correct radius and once all the panelling was complete, the curved walnut top capping was installed.

The bookcase is a focal point with the reception area at the Plimsoll building.

The unit was made to measure and fit within an existing opening, it is finished in American black walnut with 30% gloss lacquer and utilises storage cupboards at low level.

Housed within the low level cupboards is also a range of M and E equipment and sockets. Built into several of the shelves are LED strip lights with a diffuser to highlight art, sculptures and books showcased within the unit.
